X2 Pure: What "Pure" Means HereX2 Pure takes the ELEMENT X2 platform and removes the headphone amplifier stage entirely, redirecting the design effort that would otherwise go toward driving headphones into the purity of the DAC and analogue output path instead.
For a system that will only ever feed a power amplifier or active speakers - never headphones directly - that trade lets X2 Pure focus its circuit design on a single job rather than two.

X2 Pure: Dual ES9039PRO in True MonoX2 Pure carries dual ESS ES9039PRO chips - ESS’s flagship DAC IC - configured in true mono mode, with all eight D/A conversion units on each chip working in parallel per channel.
Running every conversion unit per channel in parallel rather than splitting duties between channels is aimed at maximising dynamic range and minimising distortion beyond what a single-chip stereo configuration can reach.

X2 Pure: High-Output Preamp StageWith its preamp function enabled, X2 Pure can output up to 15.8VRMS, paired with Matrix Audio’s Hyper-Control technology to keep noise and distortion low across that entire output range.
That headroom lets X2 Pure drive a power amplifier directly at full swing without needing a separate preamplifier stage in between.

X2 Pure: Full Streaming Platform RetainedDespite the stripped-down analogue section, X2 Pure keeps the full ELEMENT streaming platform: Roon Ready, AirPlay 2, DLNA/UPnP, TIDAL Connect and Spotify Connect, plus 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI ARC.
The same 3.46-inch touch screen and MA Remote app (iOS and Android) handle playback control, streaming-service access and firmware updates, unchanged from the rest of the ELEMENT range.
