MATRIX AUDIO SC-1

SC-1: A Custom-Made OCXO at the CoreSC-1 is built around a custom-made 10MHz OCXO (oven-controlled crystal oscillator) using an SC-cut crystal, rated at better than -118 dBc/Hz phase noise at 1Hz offset and 20 femtoseconds of jitter.

That level of phase noise performance is aimed squarely at streamers, DACs and CD players that accept an external reference clock input, giving those components a timing reference well beyond their own internal clocks.

SC-1: Four Independent Buffered OutputsRather than splitting one signal passively, SC-1 provides four independently buffered clock outputs, all derived from the same OCXO source but each isolated from the others so connecting or disconnecting one component does not disturb the signal reaching the rest.

Each output can be switched between sine and square wave, with the square wave setting offering higher locking accuracy for components that specify it.

SC-1: 1PPS Input and Free CalibrationA 1PPS (one-pulse-per-second) reference input allows SC-1 to auto-calibrate against an external timing reference, and Matrix Audio additionally offers free factory calibration support to keep long-term accuracy on target.

A front-panel LED warm-up indicator shows at a glance when the OCXO has reached full operating temperature and stabilised, since an oven-controlled oscillator needs a settling period after power-on before it reaches full accuracy.

SC-1: Isolated Power and Vibration ControlAn automatic linear power supply with dual regulation keeps the oven circuit and the clock circuit on separate supply rails, preventing the oven’s heating cycle from injecting noise into the clock signal itself.

CBVB vibration-absorbing foot pads isolate the chassis from external vibration reaching the rack or shelf beneath it, protecting the crystal’s stability from mechanical disturbance in day-to-day use.
