PURIST AUDIO DESIGN CAT7 ETHERNET

CAT7 Ethernet: True CAT 7 ConstructionCAT7 Ethernet is hand-crafted to genuine CAT 7 specification, with individual shielding on each pair as well as an overall cable shield. The conductors are stranded 26 AWG with a Santoprene dielectric and 0.03281 Ohms per foot.

It supports 10/100Base-T, Gigabit and 10 Gigabit ethernet, so in practice the only limit is the equipment at either end. Purist quality means the signal is both smooth and clean, just as the artist intended.

CAT7 Ethernet: Connector MetallurgyCAT7 Ethernet uses ultra high quality GG45 TERA connectors. Purist point out that bad connectors can cost as much as 200 MHz of bandwidth on their own - the connector, not the wire, is usually what limits a network cable.

The shielding level is single crystal silver, and the whole assembly gets the Triple (3x) Cryomag treatment applied across the Purist range. Break-in is estimated at 100 hours.

CAT7 Ethernet: Crossover ConfigurationCAT7 Ethernet is also offered in a crossover configuration. A crossover cable connects two devices of the same type directly to each other - two computers through their network interfaces, or two switches.

The standard cable is the one for connecting devices of different types, such as a computer to a network switch or an ethernet hub. Both are built to the same specification; only the pin-out differs.

CAT7 Ethernet: Made by Hand in the USACAT7 Ethernet measures 0.27 in. (6.9 mm) across and is made by hand in the USA, like the rest of the Purist Audio Design range.

In a streaming system the ethernet run is often the last thing anyone upgrades, on the assumption that bits are bits. Purist build this one to the same standard as their analogue cable and let the system decide.
